Funerals give us the opportunity to grieve and show others support during difficult times. Through our prayers and actions during these times we show our respect for life, which is always a gift from God, and comfort to those who mourn.” (USCCB)
Ask whether your loved one has made prepaid arrangements with a funeral home. Review that document several weeks in advance when possible. You can obtain a copy from the funeral home.
With this information in hand, you are welcome to meet a member of the parish staff before the death to begin funeral planning.
Funeral prearrangements and prepaid funerals typically differ. The funeral home can tell you what plan, if any, your loved one has made.
If your loved one has a prepaid plan, inquire at the funeral home whether any additional fees incurred by the funeral home, parish church or cemetery can be added to the plan.
